Ultimate Survival Wet Fire Tinder:

Q. How much Wet Fire Tinder material do I need to start a fire?
A. This will depend on the weather conditions and the type of material available to start the fire.  To start a fire with small, dry and combustible kindling material in good weather conditions, you should only need to scrape the edge of the cube with the edge of a knife to create a small pile of shavings.  For fires in poor weather conditions, or when kindling materials are over sized or not totally dry, plan to use an entire cube.  For better results, roughen the surface of the cube.  Always make sure you prepare more tinder than you think necessary.

Q. Will Wet Fire Tinder cubes light when wet?
A. Yes.  Wet Fire Tinder is ideal for lighting a fire in the driving rain.  The cubes are unaffected by moisture - in fact they actually burn longer when wet and will stay alight while floating on water.

Ultimate Survival Saber Cut Saw:

Q. Does the chain of the Saber Cut Saw require any special maintenance?
A. The Saber Cut Saw's cutting teeth are self-cleaning and require little maintenance beyond standard care and occasional sharpening.  After use, a brush should be used to remove any wood or other debris from the chain links.  The chain, teeth and handle clips should be dried after use. Periodic oiling of the chain and teeth with a light weight machine oil (such as WD-40) will help to prevent corrosion and prolong the life of the saw.

Q. Can the Saber Cut Saw be sharpened?

A. Yes.  The teeth of the Saw can be sharpened using a standard chain saw blade sharpening kit (using a 4.0mm diameter file).

Q. Will the Saber Cut Saw chain and cutting teeth rust?
A. The chain and cutting teeth of the chain saw are treated to retard rust and corrosion. Over time, normal wear and tear will reduce this treatment, and therefore periodic oiling of the teeth and chain with a light machine oil will assist in prolonging the life of your saw.

Q. Can the Saber Cut Saw be used under water?
A. Yes.  When cutting under water take additional care as the water can distort what you are seeing. After using the saw under water ensure that the handle clips and chain are thoroughly dried, taking care to avoid the sharp cutting teeth.  To prevent corrosion, an application of a light machine oil should be applied following use of the saw under water.

Q. What is the best method for operating the Saber Cut Saw?
A. The preferred method of using the saw, is to use smooth, long strokes when cutting.  This makes the cutting job easier and helps prevent the saw from jamming or binding in materials.

Ultimate Survival Star Flash Signal Mirror:

Q. How do I accurately aim the flash of the Star Flash Signal Mirror?
A. When using the mirror for signalling, select an area as open as possible with clear view of the sky and, if possible, the horizon.  During daylight hours, stand facing toward the sun (even if overcast).  Reflect light from the sun onto your hand, or other nearby object.  Make sure to prevent your hand from blocking the light source to the mirror surface.  Slowly bring the mirror toward your eye until the mirror touches your cheek.  Look through the star at the reflected light on your hand or other object.  A bright light spot will show in the star.  This is the aim indicator (this can only be seen by the person using the mirror).  Holding the mirror close to your eye, and still looking at the aim indicator, slowly turn and angle the mirror until you "place" the aim indicator directly on the object you wish to flash.

Q. Can the Star Flash Signal Mirror only be used in sunny conditions?
A. Best results are achieved when the sun is well above the horizon and the air is clear.  However, visible signals can be created even on hazy or overcast days and even at night.  Remember that signal flashes can be seen even when you cannot see the aircraft or other target.

Q. How do you use the Star Flash Signal Mirror at night?
A. Torches, car headlights and moonlight can all be used as a source of light to produce signals at night.  To use the mirror at night, face the direction from which the aircraft or rescue craft are most likely to come.  Then use the same signalling technique as for sunny conditions, however use the alternate light source instead of the sun.

Ultimate Survival Jet Scream Whistle:

Q. In an emergency situation, how should I signal for help using the Jet Scream Whistle?
A. The Jet Scream Whistle is most useful in signalling to a ground-based search party.  In this situation, an internationally recognised symbol of distress is a series of three (3) signals (blasts of the whistle).  Ground search parties will generally give three signals followed by a period of silence to listen for a response.  Signal to the search party during the silence and continue to do so to assist them in locating your position.
